Privacy
This page describes the data Jinbal currently handles. It is written for the beta product and must be reviewed again before any school-wide or public launch.
Data Jinbal stores
- Account identity supplied during sign-in, such as name, email, and profile image.
- Chats, uploaded study files, extracted source text, generated cards, quiz answers, and review history.
- Canvas course material, assignments, and planner items you choose to sync.
- Connection tokens for ChatGPT, Canvas, or Gmail. Tokens are encrypted at rest and are never included in account exports.
How the data is used
Jinbal uses this data to answer questions, generate source-backed study material, schedule reviews, and show progress. It does not need advertising profiles to provide those functions.
External services
Study content may be sent to the connected AI service to produce answers and cards. Canvas and Gmail data is requested only after you connect those services. Each provider applies its own terms and privacy practices.
Your controls
You can disconnect integrations, export your Jinbal data, or delete the account from Settings. Deleting the account removes its active database records. A public launch still requires documented hosting backup and retention periods.
Students and schools
Jinbal is not currently approved for school-managed student records or children under 13. A school deployment requires the school's authorization, appropriate agreements, and a separate privacy review.
